Summer Outing 2018
This year we have chosen to make a change and have our outing in late summer. It will take place on Saturday 15 September. We will be visiting Old Allangrange and Brackla Wood and stopping for lunch at Munros Nurseries.
Old Allangrange is a 17th century lime washed house which provides the backdrop to a formal(ish) garden with many fine old trees including an ancient stand of yews. There is an ice house, vegetable garden, a mound, orchard and two large polytunnels where vegetables are grown biodynamically. They are establishing a nursery where plants attractive to invertebrates are grown, and plant particularly for wildlife so wildflowers and beneficial weeds are encouraged.
Brackla Wood is a mature 1 acre plot consisting of woodland, wildlife features, ponds, mixed borders, a kitchen garden, rockery and mini-orchard. Roses followed by crocosmia, clematis and deciduous trees provide continuous colour and interest throughout the season.
The coach will leave Plockton around 9.00am and there will be a coffee stop en route to Brackla Wood.
The cost is to be confirmed, but we expect it to be around £30.
