Summer Outing 2019
This year the outing will take place on Saturday 8 June. We will be visiting Gruinard House Garden and the Garden Cottage Nursery and stopping for lunch at Inverewe.
The Garden Cottage Nursery outside Poolewe is a family-run retail plant nursery. We last visited this two years ago after our trip to Dundonnell and Durnamuck. We shall stop here in the morning.
Lunch will be taken at the Inverewe Garden’s self-service cafe. The price of this is not included and you may bring your own packed lunch if preferred.
Gruinard House Garden is a superb hidden and unexpected garden developed in sympathy with its stunning west coast estuary location. Alongside the Gruinard river, on the northeast bank, the garden catches the best of the sunshine but is sheltered from the worst of the wind. There is a wide variety of interesting herbaceous and shrub borders with water garden and extended wild planting. An orchard has been retained at one end and there are pergolas with espaliered apples and climbing roses giving height and structure to the garden.
The coach will leave Plockton around 9.00am and there will be a coffee stop at Ledgowan en-route.
The cost is to be confirmed.
